Public Meeting Will Unveil Conceptual Plans for Future Rehabilitation of Crystal Lake and Provide Forum for Comment and Questions

The Urbana Park District will host a drop-in public meeting between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 to unveil conceptual designs and plans for Crystal Lake. The “open house” style meeting will take place at the Planning and Operations Building, 1011 E. Kerr Street.

The district’s planning consultants, including local firm Berns, Clancy and Associates, will be on hand to discuss anticipated improvements for:

  • public recreation
  • shoreline stability
  • habitat restoration
  • water quality

Exhibits will emphasize a draft trails and water access plan as well as aesthetic plans for the lake shore and amenities. Staff members can address the anticipated timeline for various phases of the plans. Light refreshments will be available.

If you’re unable to attend  the public meeting, you may sign up for a free “Parks in Progress” tour of Crystal Lake from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. Meet at the Lake House at 206 W. Park Street, Urbana. The group will walk to several expected improvement sites along the lake. Please call 344-9583 by July 15 to let us know you plan to attend.
