Behind the Urbana Dog Park is a hidden gem. With the assistance of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation 2000 program and a 2006 Trees Forever Grant, the Urbana Park District has begun to restore 35 acres south of Perkins Road in East Urbana. Once restored, the area will be filled with native plants and waterfowl, and will eventually become a site for district environmental education programs, bird watching and recreation.

Stewardship Saturdays
For a sneak peak at this developing natural area, join our Stewardship Saturdays at the wet prairie. Meet at the Dog Park on Perkins Road, ½ mile east of Cunningham Ave. and help us restore this area. Find dates and times in the Leisure Guide.
