Some much needed improvements and additions are coming to Broadway Avenue in Urbana this fall.

The Urbana Park District will create a new side path in Crystal Lake Park along Broadway Avenue at the same time the City of Urbana replaces brick with asphalt between Stebbins and Oakland.

The new sidewalk will be a path similar to what was installed on Main Street at the north end of Weaver Park. Special care will be taken adjacent to oaks in the area and new trees will be planted once construction is completed. See the path plans.

Work is scheduled to begin August 3 and be completed in the late fall.

During construction, the public can access the Anita Purves Nature Center and Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center by Country Club Road, which can be entered on the east side of North Cunningham Avenue or from West Bradley Avenue/North Coler Avenue. See a map.

For questions about the path plans, contact Urbana Park District project manager Caitlin Lill at 217-344-9583. For questions about Broadway Avenue contstruction, see this link, or contact the City of Urbana Public Works at 217-384-2342.
