Youth Summer Theatre to Perform "The Pajama Game"

On June 22, tickets go on sale for the Urbana Park District Youth Summer Theatre’s adaptation of “The Pajama Game.” Tickets are available in person at the Phillips Recreation Center, from cast members, or at the door if still available. Tickets may also be purchased by credit card by calling 217-367-1544 or using the registration link at urbanaparks.org. Prices are $14 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $7 for children 12 and under.

Performances are at 7:00 p.m. July 22-25 at Parkland College Theatre, 2400 West Bradley Avenue, Champaign. Community members of all ages are invited to see what makes this musical a beloved classic.

After months of preparation, talented young performers ages 8 through 18, under the direction of experienced professionals, will bring the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory to life in the story of conflict between management and labor, as well as a battle of the sexes. When new superintendent Sid Sorkin clashes with Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee, workers strike for a 7 ½ cent pay increase, setting off a chain of events.

"The Pajama Game is simply a fun musical. The story is one of learning to work together and plays out through a number of catchy songs, exciting dances, and enjoyable characters,” said director Kyle A. Thomas. “It's a fun show to do and equally fun to direct!"
