2019 project will make it safer, easier to walk Crystal Lake Park perimeter

Urbana Park District is looking for public feedback on a project to improve the trails around Crystal Lake Park.

The Park District hosted a community open house this week so residents could see the plans and ask questions about the project.

The project is part of the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), using federal grant money. “The project will improve the trail system and surrounding connectivity with Crystal Lake Park,” said Andy Rousseau, Project Manager, Urbana Park District.

He added, “We will design and construct a multi-use path along the southern border of the park, and complete preliminary design for a future path and pedestrian bridge along the southern Broadway Avenue park boundary, crossing the Saline Creek.”

The trail improvements should start in winter 2019 and be ready in summer of 2019.
