Art for Sale August 3 at free art fair at Crystal Lake Park

Urbana Park District, in partnership with 40 North, invites the public to the inaugural Crystal Lake Park Art Fair, on August 3, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The fair is free to attend and open to all. "We are excited and proud to put on this first event," said Janet Soesbe, Community Program Manager. "We have some great artists scheduled to appear."

Artists will do more than show their works off. People can purchase the art from C-U makers as well as those from Chicago, Bloomington-Normal, Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky, and more.

"We will have artists who are experts in glass art, painting, textiles, jewelry, and photography and illustration; just about every aspect of art will be here," Soesbe explained.

She continued, "We’ll have a kids’ make and take table with a fun art activity as well as a free mosaics workshop hosted at 122 W. Franklin St. by The School for Designing a Society. Our neighbors are graciously inviting all to this workshop from 12 to 3pm at their house, which is located inside the park near the Art Fair grounds."

As the title suggests, the art fair will be at Urbana Park District’s Crystal Lake Park with the tents along the park road parallel to Broadway and behind the Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center. Overflow parking is available at the former Washington School and the district’s special event lot across from the lake on Broadway.

"It is only fitting that Urbana Park District’s oldest and most picturesque park will host this inaugural event. We welcome everyone to the park on August 3 to appreciate great local art," Soesbe concluded.
