Bringing Yoga to You

Yoga is a popular exercise for many and many more are interested to see if Yoga is right for them. Urbana Park District is helping those people by bringing free Yoga classes to select parks this summer.

"We’re calling it Neighborhood Namaste," said Elsie Hedgspeth, Outreach and Wellness Coordinator at Urbana Park District. "People can come get free Yoga lessons. People of all ages and abilities are welcome," she added.

The remaining free Neighborhood Namaste dates are:

Both events run from 6 – 7 p.m.

"We want to bring our programs to where people are," Hedgspeth said. "Some may find it hard to get to our facilities at Phillips Recreation Center, so we come to them."

Hedgspeth wants to make Neighborhood Namaste a true community event. "We hope people invite friends and family to this free event. Our instructors will train people of all abilities, so they can practice and learn about Yoga," she commented.

"Even better, it is outside," Hedgspeth added. She concluded, "Please come, bring comfortable clothes and a Yoga mat. You belong in our parks learning Yoga."
