Celebrate Biking August 7 at Free Meadowbrook Park Event

Urbana Park District invites the public to celebrate a great summer biking season, Wednesday, August 7, at Meadowbrook Park.

The event runs from 6:30 – 8 p.m., in conjunction with the Park District’s Neighborhood Nights.

“Join us, bring your bikes and check out our bike vendors,” said Elsie Hedgspeth, Outreach and Wellness Manager. “People can get a free bike safety check and learn more about local biking groups.”

Bikers will leave Meadowbrook Park at 8 p.m., for a guided sunset ride. “This ride is open to people of all ages and abilities. State law requires riders to have lights on their bikes and helmets are highly recommended,” Hedgspeth explained.

“Urbana Park District encourages biking in our community. It is a healthy, fun and environmentally-friendly way to exercise and get around town,” Hedgspeth said.

She concluded, “We hope to see many people come out to Meadowbrook Park on August 7, to celebrate biking.”
