A cold, wet spring didn’t dampen the summer outdoor swimming at Urbana Park District. The Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center hosted swimmers from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

A total of 48,137 people visited the outdoor pool this year.

“We would like to thank all of our loyal patrons, plus people who checked out the pool for the first time,” said Leslie Radice, Aquatics Manager. “We are now winterizing the pool and look forward to serving the public again in 2020.”

Radice also wants people to know they still have an opportunity to swim in cold weather. “Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center is open year-round for public swim, swimming lessons and water exercise classes,” she added. “People can purchase punch card passes, memberships for the indoor pool only, or memberships good for both the indoor and outdoor pool,” Radice explained.

No matter a person’s taste in swimming, Radice says the Park District is committed to serving the public.

“Swimming is great exercise and a great way for kids to get the energy out in the winter,” Radice said. “Everyone is welcome to swim and we hope the public takes advantage of our aquatics opportunities.”
