Kids ages up to age 6 can play in nature on Fridays this fall

The Urbana Park District’s Anita Purves Nature Center is inviting kids and their families to explore nature on Fridays in September (no program September 27) and October.

“Nature Play Kids is great way for young children to learn about nature and the outdoors,” said Savannah Donovan, Environmental Public Program Coordinator. “We recommend the program for kids ages 3 – 6, but we welcome younger kids, too.”

It costs $4 per child. Kids ages 2 and under are free.

“We’ll have weekly nature themes based on current events in nature,” Donovan added.

“We ask adults to call us at the nature center at (217) 384-4062 on Thursday to let us know you’re coming,” Donovan explained. “That way we can have enough supplies. We also welcome drop-ins who pay the $4 at the door; however, we strongly encourage you to call us Thursday so we can properly plan for you.”

This is a popular program each fall. “We welcome children of all abilities to Nature Play Kids,” Donovan said. “Kids belong playing in nature and we look forward to facilitating their play.”
