Composting can be some of the best natural fertilizer for lawns and gardens. People can learn more about composting for free, on May 7, at Anita Purves Nature Center.
The composting workshop will run from 10 a.m. – Noon, at the nature center. People can learn more about home composting, troubleshooting, soil health, and compositing resources. This workshop is in partnership with Courtney Kwong, City of Urbana Recycling Coordinator.
The event is free, but please sign up so the park district knows how many to expect. Register online or call the park district at (217) 367-1544.
“Composting is a great way for people to repurpose organic waste. Instead of putting it in the trash, turn it into a natural fertilizer to feed your lawn and garden,” said David Subers, Environmental Public Program Coordinator. “Everyone is welcome and we hope to see many people learning about compositing on May 7 at the nature center.”
