Mornings at the Indoor Pool will cater to young kids and kids with sensory issues

Beginning March 11 and through the end of the Urbana School District year, toddlers and kids with sensory issues can swim at Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center in a relaxed morning setting.

“Every Monday through Thursday from 8 – 11 a.m., we’ll turn off the water features in the leisure pool,” said Leslie Radice, Aquatics Manager. “That will let kids with sensory issues enjoy the pool.”

This is also a great time for parents with small kids to get them used to the pool. “Kids can wade in the pool and explore with their parents,” Radice said. She added, “With fewer kids in the pool, parents and their toddlers can get used to the water at their own pace.”

Admission is $6 per person and kids under four years old are free. “They can also purchase a punch card for a discounted admission,” Radice said.

For more information, people can call the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center at (217) 384-7665 or they can learn more online.

“People belong at our pool, and we want to make sure kids who need to get used to the water or need special considerations get a chance to enjoy swimming,” Radice explained.
