Urbana Park District wants and needs you! The park district invites people to apply to be a member of the Urbana Park District Advisory Committee (UPDAC). The position is appointed and voluntary.
UPDAC began in 1971 as a way for people to give advice and ideas for park district programs, projects and vision.
“UPDAC meets 10 months out of the year, at 7 p.m., on the fourth Tuesday of the month,” said Kelsey Beccue, park district liaison with UPDAC. She added, “People are on UPDAC for a three year, fixed term. This promotes new, fresh faces on the committee.”
“UPDAC has come up with great ideas that we’ve incorporated into our plans. They are also our park district champions with the public,” Beccue added.
People need to be at least 18-years old and live within park district boundaries. People with questions about UPDAC can call Beccue at (217) 367-1536 or fill out an application online.
“We want a vibrant and diverse UPDAC to help give advice to the park district,” Beccue said. “All are welcome to apply to UPDAC.”
