The dulcimer is a fun musical instrument to play. While playing fiddle tunes on the dulcimer looks difficult, there's a class at Urbana Park District this summer that can help you master this art.
Easy Fiddle Tunes on the Dulcimer will meet Mondays at Phillips Recreation Center. The first session meets in May and June. The second session meets in June and July.
The class covers how to slow down and simplify a fiddle tune, so they are fun to play alone or along with other musicians. Dulcimer is an easy-to-learn instrument, and loaners may be available upon request.
The class is for people age 18 and older. It costs $110 for residents at $165 for non-residents. Call Jacob at (217) 367-1544 for more information.
