Learn more about the History of Meadowbrook in a free walking tour on October 4


Meadowbrook Park is an Urbana Park District gem. And people have the chance to learn more about this park as it transformed from farmland into beautiful natural areas, an inclusive playground and a place where people can enjoy public art. 

Local author (and former Urbana Park District Commissioner) Roger Digges as authored Meadowbrook: A History, and he will lead a free tour of the park on October 4, from 10 a.m. - Noon. Meet at the Race Street entrance. The walking tour will be approximately two miles long with accessible paved paths. 

Digges will lead the tour and describe the park's rich history. People can also buy copies of his book after the tour.

Meadowbrook: A History by Roger Digges, tells the story of how the Urbana Park District turned a farm into an iconic park that provides a unique blend of nature, art, recreation, and learning. Join this walking tour led by the author to witness firsthand Meadowbrook Park’s rich history. Meet at the Garden Pavilion at the Race Street entrance at 2pm, and the tour will depart from there. The walk will cover approximately 2 miles along accessible paved paths. Rain date is April 26.
