A new sculpture from artist Micki LeMieux is now on display in the Wandell Sculpture Garden at Meadowbrook Park. Evolve and Grow takes the place of Idea of An Apple.
The new work is on loan from LeMieux. She says of Evolve and Grow, "We are walking forward in past footsteps and are uncomfortable with change. Can we learn from our history and not repeat patterns? Can we grow and expand our minds to work in parallel with Nature? Can our minds and technology evolve with nature and not destroy it?"
LeMieux added, "My artwork is intended to be a playful reminder that wholeness is a collection of many diverse parts."
Evolve and Grow is made from welded steel, foam and epoxy. Prior to the Wandell Sculpture Garden, the sculpture was displayed at various exhibits in Chicago, Rock Island and Peoria.
The Wandell Sculpture Garden is open from dawn to dusk. Urbana Park District invites everyone to see this new work, along with all the public art in park district parks.
