Support local biking in Urbana on May 8 for Bike to School Day and the Ride of Silence

The community has to opportunities to support and enjoy biking on May 8.

School kids can bike or roll to school on May 8 for Bike to School Day. Some schools will be hosting a bike station where students and families can pick up their bike safety information, reflectors, and be greeted by U of I student athletes and elected officials.

Also on May 8, people can take part in the Ride of Silence. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.

People can find out more at the Prairie Cycle Club, or the Bike Project of Urbana-Champaign.

Find out more about community bicycling events this summer in the park district program guide.

Everyone is welcome to take part in biking this spring and summer in our parks and community!
