The dulcimer is a fun and easy instrument to learn and play. And, Urbana Park District has two opportunities for people to learn and play and dulcimer this Fall at Phillips Recreation Center.
On Mondays from October 6 - November 3, the park district will offer a dulcimer class. It is an easy instrument that does not require hand strength, dexterity, or musical experience. The class will teach basic chords, strum patterns, rounds and fiddle tunes. The class costs $90 and people can sign up through October 3.
And on Tuesdays from 2 - 3:30 p.m., people can join the free Dulcimer Jam. Put the lessons from the class to use and jam out to dulcimer tunes. All musicians are welcome, and all experience levels are welcome! The jam is also at Phillips Recreation Center.
Call Jacob at (217) 367-1544 for more information. Sign up for the dulcimer class either on the phone or follow the link below.
All are welcome to try out the dulcimer this Fall!

Easy Fiddle Tunes on the Dulcimer
Playing fiddle tunes on a dulcimer can be intimidating because of the speed or the number of notes in the tune. We will cover how to slow down and simplify a fiddle tune, so they are fun to play alone or along with other musicians.
