The students at Preston Williams Elementary School learned about the importance of trees and celebrated Arbor Day, Friday at the school.
Rain forced the festivities indoors at the school, after being scheduled for the Health & Wellness Center. Urbana Mayor Dianne Marlin was on hand to proclaim Urbana as Tree City USA.
Park district personnel were on hand to give presentations about trees and how important trees are to the environment. Kids also participated in different activities.
The park recently planted trees at the Health & Wellness Center, so kids can look next door and watch the trees grow!
