Urbana Park District thanks volunteers

Urbana Park District took time last week to thank its volunteers for all the hard work they do and the time they donate to help the park district function.

Volunteers gathered June 6, at The Lake House in Crystal Lake Park for a recognition ceremony, refreshments and free boat rides. From January - April of this year, volunteers donated 2,050 hours of their time to the park district.

"Urbana Park District is so grateful for volunteers," said Jacob Johnston, Community Program and Engagement Coordinator. He continued, "There are several ways people can volunteer, and it is a great way for young people to complete service projects and learn to give back - and for the young-at-heart to stay active and engaged in the community."

The first step to volunteer at Urbana Park District is to fill out an application. There are several areas to choose to volunteer - be it in our natural areas, community programs or teens-only programs. Call Jacob at (217) 367-1544 for more information about volunteering or email him at jrjohnston@urbanaparks.org

All ages and abilities are welcome to volunteer at Urbana Park District! Volunteers make the park district go!
