Stop by the Urbana Park District’s recreation office and community center. This public facility has three multi-purpose rooms, a senior lounge and a beautiful dance/fitness room.

We offer many community programs here, such as dance and school's out, as well as several fitness classes (check out these pages for program details and schedules). Experience the variety of exciting classes, programs and activities for all ages.

The Phillips Center is the place to sign up for programs, rent a picnic pavilion or get your pool pass photo taken. We look forward to helping you enjoy all that the district has to offer. Now that we offer online registration, we’d be glad to help you with your online registration, too!

When registering in-person, please leave your pets at home. Only trained service animals are allowed inside of Urbana Park District buildings. Therapy and emotional support animals are not recognized by the ADA.

Dance/Fitness Room

With 2,000 square feet of space, this fitness and dance room features a wood-sprung floor, which is easier on your joints. A bank of windows lets in natural light to make it a very inviting space for exercise.

Rental Requests

Rental requests should be made at least two weeks in advance.

Multipurpose rooms (available September through May) are ideal for parties, meetings, or group retreats. Each room is just over 660 square feet, and can open up to make one large space. Phillips can accommodate up to 100 people seated, depending on room arrangement and needs. An LCD projector and screen could be available for an additional deposit.

The Phillips Recreation Center also has a fully-equipped demonstration kitchen that can be added on to a multipurpose room rental or be rented on its own. The kitchen includes double ovens, two refrigerators, an ice machine, dishwasher, island with a stove top, and microwave.

Request packets are available at the Phillips Recreation Center and by e-mail. Or download a rental packet. You must complete a request and return it to the Phillips Recreation Center with a $100 damage deposit. Requests are only accepted when the request form and deposit have both been received. Preferably, at least two weeks advance notice should be given to reserve the Recreation Center. Staff will try to accommodate requests with less notice if the space and staffing are available.

After you submit your form and deposit, the Community Office Manager must then approve your request. After you are called with approval, you will receive a receipt, your permit and paperwork copies. No requests are approved without a call from the Manager.

Payment

The $100 damage deposit must be received to make your request. After the rental is approved, the deposit will be cashed (if paid with a check) or will be charged (if paid with a credit card). A full refund for the deposit will be issued approximately two weeks after your rental minus any costs for staying late, damages, additional staff time required to clean up, or other miscellaneous charges.

Full payment for the rental must be made no later than two weeks after notification that your rental has been approved. If payment is not received before the end of the two-week period, the reservation may be cancelled and $50 will be deducted from the damage deposit. We would be glad to discuss a payment plan if you believe you’ll require an extension.

PLEASE NOTE: Any party that stays over the scheduled time will be charged an additional amount at 1.5 times the hourly rate.

Rental Requests

Your party will be fun for the guests and simple for your family. We do the planning and hosting. Leave it to us.

Fill out a request form with your choice of date, time, theme, and package for your celebration. Upon approval, a party planner will call you to make final arrangements for your party. On the day of the party, staff will lead your group through the entire event so that you are free to sit back and watch, take pictures, and participate if you’d like!
