Urbana Park District invites all people age 50 and better to come to Phillips Recreation Center, each Tuesday in April, from 1 – 2 p.m., and play Parking Lot Bingo.

The games are free for everyone.

So, just how will socially-distanced, parking lot bingo work? “We’ll deliver bingo cards to the players in their cars. When they get a BINGO, they’ll honk their horn and we’ll run over to confirm the good bingo and then give them a prize,” explained Janet Soesbe, Community Program Manager.

Soesbe added, “We have an FM transmitter we’ll broadcast from at a table near the lot. They will tune their car radios to the designated station so they can hear the bingo caller.”

People will park in the Phillips Recreation Center parking lot to play. While the games are free, people still need to register so the park district knows how many people are coming. There can be more than one person per household in a car.

Register online or call the park district at (217) 367-1544 to let Soesbe know you’re coming.

Soesbe reminds people to please wear a mask when interacting with park district staff.

“We invite all people age 50 and better some come out, sit in the car, roll the window down, enjoy the fresh spring air, and play some bingo,” Soesbe concluded.
