People can combine technology, art and a competitive scavenger hunt to win prizes in the Urbana Park District Artstagram Scavenger Hunt on October 5, from 11am to 5pm.

“People need a team of four, a smartphone and an Instagram account,” explained Janet Soesbe, Community Program Manager.

The teams will register at Phillips Recreation Center, get their list of art & culture items to find and then have four hours to find as many as possible.

“They’ll need to take a photo of the art, put it on their Instagram account and tag it #artstagramurbana,” Soesbe said. “We’ll tally the points as you go. At the end of four hours, the team with the most grabs will win prizes,” Soesbe added.

It costs $30 per team if you sign up by September 21, and $45 per team by September 28. Team captains will register and pay. The park district will get the rest of the team members at registration.

Artstagram is open for people age 21 and older. Adults need to accompany those 20 and under.

“This is a great chance to learn more about Urbana and discover some great art,” Soesbe said. “We hope to see you on October 5!”
