Youth Summer Theatre is back in 2022, and kids ages 6 – 20 are invited to a free audition workshop on April 9 or April 16, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Phillips Recreation Center in Urbana.

Kids will perform Newsies this summer, and the workshop is a good way to get ready for auditions. Matthew Lewis, Community Program Coordinator explained, “Attendees will learn music and choreography for the upcoming Youth Summer Theatre production. These workshops are meant to learn the basics and get prepared for the production auditions. The same material will be covered in both workshops.”

Potential actors do not have to attend this workshop to audition, but the workshop will help get kids ready for the process.

While free, Lewis says kids need to register for the workshop so the park district knows how many to expect. Call (217) 367-1544 to let the park district know you’re coming.
