When people swim laps, the length of the pool might not seem that long. But those laps can start to add up, especially over a month.
That's why Urbana Park District is challenging swimmers to Swim Illinois at Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center (UIAC) during December.
How many laps do people have to swim to go from Urbana to Chicago? The park district will supply pamphlets to see how many laps one has to swim to go from the aquatic center to various destinations around Illinois.
This challenge is free for everyone. People can register for the challenge and at the end of December get a t-shirt and lapel pin.
Swim laps at the aquatic center five days a week between 6 - 8 a.m., and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
It costs $6 to enter the pool. People can purchase punch cards and memberships to UIAC at the pool.
Register online or call Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center at (217) 384-7665 for more information.
Keep active and moving during winter weather and Swim Illinois this December!
