Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center Re-opens

Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center (UIAC) reopens today for swimmers. The Park District closed UIAC for two weeks for cleaning.

“We thank everyone for their patience as we did our annual cleaning and maintenance,” said Leslie Radice, Aquatics Manager.

During the closure, the Park District honored UIAC memberships at the outdoor pool.

UIAC will be busy this late summer and into fall. “We’re ready for swimming lessons, lap swimmers, water aerobics, party rentals and family visits,” Radice said. Urbana School District students take swim classes as part of PE.

The indoor pool hosts the new, year-round swim team, the Tiger Sharks. Radice reminds people to check the UIAC web page to when the pool will close to the public to host swim meets.

“We want people to know that the outdoor pool is open through Labor Day, and our indoor pool is open year round. People can purchase memberships that are good for both pools,” Radice explained.
