In celebration of summer the Urbana Park District is distributing "Boredom Buster Bags" to select parks and neighborhoods. These bags will include supplies and instructions to inspire art, science, movement, and nature discovery. Activities are intended for kids age 5-12 years and their families.
"We want kids who are bored at home this summer to feel empowered to try out something new or to explore their home environment in new ways," said Environmental Public Program Coordinator, Savannah Donovan.
There is no pre-registration to receive a bag, and bags will be available (rain or shine) on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The park district will hand out the bags on the following dates:
People picking up a Boredom Buster Bag are asked to wear a face covering and practice physical-distancing of at least 6 feet while waiting in line.
