The Urbana Park District welcome all people to the parks and park district programming. As part of Welcoming Week, the park district is holding an open house September 18, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., at Phillips Recreation Center.

Welcoming Week runs September 13 – 22 all over Champaign-Urbana.

“We celebrate the values that unite us and makes our community more welcome to everyone who calls Champaign County home,” said Elsie Hedgspeth, Outreach and Wellness Manager. “That includes immigrants and newcomers.”

The open house on the 18th, will feature free activities, raffle drawings, information about district programs and parks, plus live demonstrations of park district programs.

She concluded, “Our motto is ‘You Belong Here.’ Welcoming Week highlights our daily mission. Everyone is welcome in our parks and to our programs regardless of status or ability. We hope visit with many people at our open house September 18th.”
