Volunteer to Make a Difference in local Environmental Education

Urbana Park District is always looking for volunteers to inspire and encourage local students to engage with their environment.

“School Tour Volunteers have such a positive influence on the students visiting the district’s natural areas,” said Chelsea Prahl, Environmental Education Coordinator. “They welcome excited children into nature and guide them through moments of curiosity and discovery.”

Anita Purves Nature Center needs volunteers, 18 years or older, available weekday mornings and afternoons.

“We provide training on our standards-based curriculum to our volunteers. This is a great position for anyone with a passion for the environment, who would love to share that passion with local youth,” Prahl added.

Contact Chelsea Prahl at (217) 384-4062 to schedule a free training session.
