Youth Summer Theatre looking for young actors!

The Urbana Park District is looking for young actors for this year’s Youth Summer Theatre production of Into the Woods.

“We’re looking for kids age six through kids age 18. Kids who just graduated from high school are eligible,” said Niki Hoesman, Community Program Coordinator.

The Park District will audition kids April 19 and 20. Call backs are then April 21.

“There are several parts and we need kids with several different skill sets,” Hoesman commented.  “And if they’re a little nervous about auditioning, they can come to free audition workshops on April 6 and April 13.”

Hoesman continued, “Theatre is a great activity for kids who like acting and performing. They learn responsibility and teamwork. They also learn about all aspects of acting on stage.”

The Park District also needs kids and adults to help build sets and do other jobs preparing for the performance in July.

“People belong in our Youth Summer Theatre program. We welcome all kids to audition. It makes for a fun summer,” Hoesman said.

People can learn more about Youth Summer Theatre by viewing this episode of Mark in the Park, a program broadcast on Urbana Public Television.
