Celebrate Mother's Day for Latina moms on May 11, 2024, from 8:30 - 10 a.m., at Crystal Lake Park, 206 W. Park Street, Urbana.

This is a joint project between Urbana Park District and Urbana School District.

"Our goal is to bring awareness to Latinas, predominantly moms since we work with families, about health and wellness and the local resources available to help them stay healthy," said Mitzy Maldano, Family Liaison, Urbana School District.

Maldano added, "During covid and after, we have started to become more aware of how many Latinas don't get regular check ups, have the opportunity to exercise, or make their own health and well-being as much of a priority as they do their families. I guess in short, we hope this event makes more latinas and their families aware of local resources that will support their physical and mental health as well as giving them an opportunity to engage in mild, enjoyable exercise."

Moms will be connected with community health resources and can participate in a small walk through the park. There will be a raffle and other treats for the moms.
