Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Urbana Park District will host a virtual 53rd Annual Turkey Trot.

“Participants can complete the Turkey Trot any time from November 1 – 26,” said Elsie Hedgspeth, Outreach and Wellness Manager. “People are welcome to complete their mile in any of our parks or wherever they can find space for this fun run/walk,” she said.

The park district will be selling Turkey Trot t-shirts for $10 - $14. People can buy the shirts at Phillips Recreation Center any time between October 30 and November 25.

It doesn’t cost any money to run the race, but the park district will take donations to the Urbana Park District Youth Scholarship Fund. That fund helps more kids attend park district camps. Those wanting to donate can do so at the Phillips Recreation Center.

Once people complete their one mile trot, they can share their race results on social media on the 53rd Annual Turkey Trot event page on Facebook.

“We will miss everyone at Crystal Lake Park for the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning,” Hedgspeth said. “But we hope to see everyone share their virtual race photos this fall.”

And, to get you in the spirit, here's our 2020 Turkey Trot preview video!
