Urbana Park District has canceled classes, games, rentals and open gym times at Brookens Gymnasium from now through November 3.

The gym is closed to allow Champaign County Government a socially-distant place to administer the LIHEAP program. The Champaign County Clerk will also use the gym as a socially-distant place as an early-voting polling place. 

"There is too much equipment in the gym from those two county programs to safely allow rentals, games and classes," said Kyle Mills, Athletics Supervisor. 

The park district will offer gym rentals after Election Day. People can call Brookens Gym at (217) 255-8601 to secure a gym rental for after November 3.

Mills added that the park district will offer winter indoor athletics programs as permitted by local and state health officials.
