The new Phillips Recreation Center playground is open for kids of all ages.

This spring and early summer, Park District workers took out the old playground equipment, refurbished the area and installed new structures for kids to play on.

In the summer of 2017, kids attending Urbana Park District camps created a collage of different things they’d like to see at the playground. Park Planners last year consulted with students at a nearby school who use the playground frequently

“This new playground will let everyone feel included,” said Andy Rousseau, Project Manager. “We have structures for all ages and abilities.”

The new playground is already getting a good workout from kids attending summer camps.

“They really are enjoying it and it is always great to watch kids having fun,” Rousseau said. “We hope everyone in the neighborhood comes out to Phillips Recreation Center to see and try out our new playground.”
