Free folk concerts at Crystal Lake Park begin this Friday!

Urbana Park District invites the public to bring their lunch to Crystal Lake Park for a free Folk & Roots Friday concert on selected Fridays this summer.

“Enjoy your lunch break on the lake,” said Janet Soesbe, Community Program Manager. “We’ll have a free concert courtesy of the C-U Folk and Roots Festival every first and third Friday each month.”

Each concert begins at noon at the Lake House at Crystal Lake Park on:

  • June 7 - Big Bluestem, bluegrass
  • June 21 - Billy Galt, blues and originals
  • July 5
  • July 19
  • August 2
  • August 6

“Since we're not open yet for boating, we will provide free lemonade and ice water in June,” Soesbe explained. She added, “People can also enter for a chance to win a free Lake House rental for 2019.”

In case of rain or extreme temperatures, the Park District will hold Folk & Roots Friday inside the Lake House.

“We have a great relationship with the C-U Folk & Roots Festival and we’re excited for another great concert series,” Soesbe said.

She concluded, “We welcome everyone to Crystal Lake Park this summer. We hope everyone takes advantage of all of our quality free performances.”
