People can volunteer Wednesdays this summer at Urbana Park District.

It takes a lot of work to keep our parks and natural areas beautiful and healthy. That's why the park district is inviting volunteers to Wednesday Workdays from 9 - 11 a.m., each week.

Matt Balk, natural areas coordinator, will oversee workers removing invasive plants, remove brush, harvest and scatter seeds and maintain trails and pick up track as needed.

There is a special day-long Summer Solstice Stewardship Day on June 21, at Meadowbrook Park, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Feel free to stop by at any time that day.

Locations change each week. Email Balk to get on the mailing list to see where workers are each week.

The park district appreciates each and every volunteer who helps keep our parks inviting and healthy!
