Want to learn how to bird watch? The Champaign County Audubon Society and Anita Purves Nature Center invites people ages 10 and up, to sign up for Birding Basics.

The class is February 19 (rain date March 5), from 8 – 10 a.m., at Anita Purves Nature Center.

Local birder Roger Digges and the Champaign County Audubon Society will teach people how to find and identify birds. Instructors will also teach about migrating habits of birds, over morning coffee and orange juice.

People will then go on a guided hike through Busey Woods and practice finding and identifying birds.

Register by February 15 - $6 for resident and $9 for non-residents. Sign up online at urbanaparks.org/register or call the park district at (217) 367-1544. People under age 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Spring is a time when the color comes back to Illinois, and that includes the brilliant colors courtesy of our feathered friends. All are welcome to learn how to find and identify them on February 19.
