It is easy to identify a tree in the spring, summer or fall. But how do you identify trees in the winter?

Urbana Park District is hosting a Winter Tree ID class on February 28 at Anita Purves Nature Center. Ryan Pankau from the Illinois Extension will present the course. The class runs from 4 - 6 p.m.

The park district will provide hot cocoa and coffee, and raffle off a field pack for three winners. The class winds up with a walk through Busey Woods where people will put their tree ID skills to use.

It costs $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Register by February 27. Call Anita Purves Nature Center at (217) 384-4062 to register or sign up online at urbanaparks.org/register.

Everyone age 12 and up are welcome. Under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult. Learn more about trees this month at Anita Purves Nature Center!
