A job interview can be a nerve-wracking time for anyone looking for a job. Urbana Park District wants to help people be successful throughout the interviewing process. On February 1, from 10 a.m. - Noon, the park district is hosting a free job interview workshop at Phillips Recreation Center.

The workshop is open to anyone age 15 and up.

“We will teach basic interviewing skills,” said Niki Hoesman, Community Program Coordinator. “We will help people learn ways to build their self-confidence, and we’ll practice those skills,” she added.

The workshop will focus on:

  • Preparing for the interview
  • The actual interview
  • The conversation
  • Follow-up with employer

“We will also cover how to communicate professionally with employers,” Hoesman said.

While the event is free, people need to register to reserve their space. They can register online or call Phillips Recreation Center at (217) 367-1544.

“Whether it’s a first-time job interview or if someone is changing jobs after 20-years, people can always learn job interview skills,” Hoesman said. She concluded, “All are welcome to come to the workshop February 1 for a fun and confidence-building experience.”
