Learn ukulele at a free weekly workshop

If you ever wanted to learn a stringed instrument but never found the time, had money for lessons, or quit because you found learning the instrument too difficult?

You’re in luck.

Urbana Park District is offering a free age-friendly Ukulele Workshop every Thursday through October at Phillips Recreation Center. The workshop runs from 4:15 – 5:30 p.m.

“The ukulele is one of the easiest stringed instruments to learn,” said Jacob Johnston, Age-Friendly Resource Specialist. “These workshops are designed for absolute beginners; however we welcome all skill levels. We’d love to facilitate ukulele masters who want to share their passion and knowledge with others,” Johnston added.

“I enjoy leading this workshop because I see people having fun, learning something new and making friends,” Johnston said.

Urbana Park District needs people to pre-register for the workshop so Johnston knows how many are coming.

Register for the free workshop by calling Urbana Park District at (217) 367-1544.

“We have a limited amount of ukulele’s available for loan. It’s first come, first served,” Johnston explained.

“I look forward to having man people of all walks of life come to the ukulele workshop,” Johnston concluded. “All are welcome and all belong here.”
