A popular sculpture has relocated from Meadowbrook Park to the Anita Purves Nature Center. Mr. Big Beetle Finds His Way, is now at the nature center and there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony welcoming the sculpture on Saturday, April 27, at 11:30 a.m.

People can't miss the sculpture - it is located right at the front entrance at Anita Purves Nature Center.

Everyone is invited to the free ribbon-cutting ceremony. Following the ribbon cutting, people can go on a guided hike in Busey Woods with an Interpretive Naturalist, who will reveal the history and impacts of the very real beetle from which this sculpture was inspired: the emerald ash borer (EAB). The hike will cover approximately 1/3-mile of boardwalk trail and will last from about 12-1pm.

Savannah Donovan, Environmental Program Manager, is happy the nature center is hosting Mr. Big Beetle Finds His Way. "This sculpture is a wonderful addition to the Anita Purves Nature Center. It not just beautiful, but also educational—it will help us tell the story of ash tree deaths from the emerald ash borer, both here in Busey Woods and across the US.," Donovan said.
