Urbana Park District invites adults of all ages to sign up for daytime tap dance class. The class runs each Monday from November 2 – December 7, from 2 – 2:50 p.m., at Phillips Recreation Center.

“We will spread out in our studio and people will need to wear masks during the entire class period,” said Niki Hoesman, Community Program Coordinator.

Participants need to supply their own tap dance shoes. “If you are in need of a pair, check out our local thrift shops,” Hoesman added.

For safety, dancers should not have any challenges with knee and ankle joints, as tap dance requires bending and straightening the legs and flexing and pointing the feet.

It costs $56 dollars to register, and people have until October 30, to sign up.

“This class is a great place to meet new people and hang out with old friends. It’s a cardiovascular exercise, as well as a mental exercise remembering steps and sequences,” Hoesman said.
