New and free exercise program combines music and full-body workout

Urbana Park District is inviting everyone to AMBUCS Park this Sunday for a cutting edge exercise program. POUND® in the Park will happen August 18, from 4-5 p.m.

“This is exercise where the participants become the music,” explained Elsie Hedgspeth, Outreach and Wellness Manager. “The exercise combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates-inspired movements.”

People will have instruments to make their own music while working out.

“This workout is designed for all fitness levels and abilities,” Hedgspeth said. “This is a perfect way to let loose, rock out and get fit.”

While the program is free, people still need to sign up so instructors know how many special instruments to bring. They can call the Park District at (217) 367-1544 or online at UrbanaParks.org.

“He hope to fill AMBUCS Park with music and exercise this summer,” Hedgspeth concluded.
