“King of Prairie Town” by Chicago artist Nicole Beck will be installed in the Wandell Sculpture Garden in Meadowbrook Park on Friday, November 17. The artist will be on site to assist with placement of the piece starting at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Beck said that the sculpture respectfully riffs on a Frank Lloyd Wright window from Kankakee's Bradley House.
“Wright’s design elements have been pared away to depict him as an armored Knight. The outdoor grade lanterns are lit with low-watt LEDs and powered by solar panels (with the outdoor-grade battery housed within an attached locked box.) I believe that the green energy utilized in the piece would've been embraced by Wright as his architecture was designed to exist harmoniously within nature,” she explained.
