Parents and kids invited to discover nature March 23

On March 23, parents and their kids can come to Anita Purves Nature Center for the Parent/Child Nature Discovery day.

Families should register by March 16. It costs $6 for residents and $7 for non-residents. If people register before March 9, they get an early-bird discount. The program is for kids of all ages. Adults need to accompany kids under age 15.

“We’re bringing this program back in honor of the Nature Center’s 40th anniversary,” said Chelsea Prahl, Environmental Education Coordinator. “Parent/Child Nature Discovery was a popular program in 1994, and we’re excited to offer it again.”

Prahl continued, “Parents will learn ways to connect their child with nature as they explore Busey Woods. A naturalist will guide the hike while incorporating songs, role-playing and more!”

The program on Saturday runs from 10 – 11 a.m.

“Busey Woods is a beautiful place to experience in the springtime. Everyone is welcome at the Nature Center on March 23,” Prahl said.
