Park District Board of Commissioners petitions available September 18

At the consolidated election to be held April 2, 2019, two (2) Commissioners for the Urbana Park District will be elected for six-year terms expiring in April of 2025.

The Urbana Park District encourages those who are interested in becoming a Park Commissioner to attend Park Board meetings and contact and schedule a meeting with Tim Bartlett, the Urbana Park District Executive Director, to learn more about the duties, schedules of meetings, park facilities, programs, and current projects.

Park Board meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm at the Planning and Operations Building, 1011 E. Kerr Avenue, Urbana, IL, 61802.  To schedule a meeting with Tim Bartlett, either go to the Darius E. Phebus Administrative Office of the Park District at 303 West University Avenue, Urbana, IL 61801, or call (217) 367-1536.

To be eligible to serve as Park Commissioner a person must be a qualified voter residing in the Park District for at least one year prior to the election.

Further, Illinois law requires that any person who is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the park district or who has been convicted of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony cannot serve on a park board.

Nominating Petitions may be picked up at the Darius E. Phebus Administrative Office of the Park District at 303 West University in Urbana from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M., Monday through Friday.

The petitions can be circulated beginning September 18, 2018.
