Nature Playscape

Nature Playscape Draft Design Now Available for Public Comment

In a nature playscape, kids use the environment around them and decide how to play. The ground, trees, hills, logs, climbing structures, tunnels and other parts of the geography all allow for exploration and learning.

The playscape is part of an overall improvement plan for the north end of Crystal Lake Park, which includes parking upgrades, a council ring, a pavilion and path work. The draft design of the playscape includes features such as a stump walk, log climbing, digging area, pretend play, and loose parts for building and exploring. Native plants and landforms are also expected to be part of the design.

The Urbana Park District welcomes public comment on the draft plan for this phase of improvements in the park. Comments are welcome on specific play features and the other components of the overall plan for Crystal Lake Park. Use the form below to provide your feedback, or contact Project Manager Caitlin Lill at 217-344-9583 or cklill@urbanaparks.org.
