The Urbana Park District and the Anita Purves Nature Center invite people to sign up to have a virtual dinner with the Nature Center Animals this Friday, November 13, on Zoom, from 5 – 6 p.m.

The dinner is free and limited to the first 15 registrants, and registration is online only, until November 11.

While people enjoy their dinner, they can watch the nature center animals on Zoom.

“Staff will show off the Anita Purves Nature Center's education wildlife during feeding time,” said Savannah Donovan, Environmental Public Program Coordinator.  “Animals will include screech owls, box turtles, snakes, and a toad. Participants will get the opportunity to see what and how the animals eat,” she added.

This will be an interactive dinner. People can ask questions about the animals and get answers from Donovan and nature center staff.

Donovan warns that those who are sensitive about animals need to be prepared. “Some of the animals are strict carnivores and we will feed them dead (previously frozen) mice or live worms,” she explained.

So have your family join in on a virtual feeding session at Anita Purves Nature Center on Friday the 13th.
