Urbana Park District is registering boys and girls ages 7 – 14 for outdoor soccer.

Practices start on August 19, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., at various Urbana schools and parks. Kids play games on Saturdays from September 7, to October 19.

“Players learn soccer rules, skills, the value of teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun environment,” said Kyle Mills, Athletics Supervisor. “When people sign their kids up for soccer, they can sign up for their first choice of a practice site.”

Parents can sign up by August 5, for the early bird rate of $25 for residents and $37 for non-residents. If they miss the early bird deadline, residents can register their kids for $32 and non-residents can register for $44.

“They can sign up through August 12. But if they want the lower cost, they have to sign up by August 5,” Mills explained.

Urbana Park District is always looking for volunteers to coach the soccer teams. People looking for make a few extra dollars can also sign up to officiate the soccer games.

Mills added, “Everyone ages 7 – 14 is welcome to sign up for fall outdoor soccer. We have room for everyone and look forward to a fun season.”
