Strawberry Jam offers treats, fun and music Saturday

Urbana Park District invites everyone to the 30th annual Strawberry Jam this Saturday, June 15, from 4 – 9 p.m., at Meadowbrook Park.

“This is a great event for all ages, and it’s free,” said Judy Miller, Environmental Program Manager. “People should enter Meadowbrook Park off the Race Street entrance.”

The Park District will serve ice-cream covered in fresh strawberries while supplies last. People can enjoy their summer treat while listening to local musicians perform. “We are blessed with so many talented local artists, and we love to give them an outlet to perform,” Miller said.

Scheduled to appear:

  • The Young and Fretless, 4 – 5 p.m.
  • The Chickadee Sermon, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • Big Bluestem String Band, 7 – 8 p.m.

In addition to the music, the Park District will offer hayrack rides around the park, tours of Spomer Prairie, face painting, kite flying, model rocket demonstrations, bat hike, star gazing and dancing with Urbana Country Dancers.

“Urbana Park District is proud to offer this great event to the public,” Miller said.

“We hope to see everyone come out to Meadowbrook Park, enjoy music, visit with friends and make new friends.”
